Joyful Country Estate Wedding in Auckland

Sienna and Mathew promised to spend forever together at the gorgeous Bridgewater Estate. Their day was filled with laughter, fun, and so much joy, and the photos truly capture how happy they were, soaking in every moment of their special day. The whimsical feel of the venue was the perfect match for Sienna's beautiful dress.

Sienna captivated in Edmonton by Forget Me Knot —a floral and butterfly patterned A-line dress with a ruched sweetheart bodice. It’s the perfect mix of classic elegance and modern flair. She finished her look with our Petal Veil, which matched her dress perfectly, and our CZ earrings—long, sparkling earrings with just the right touch of whimsical charm.

We hope you enjoy looking through their beautiful day and hearing from Sienna about her experience with us at Astra Bridal and how she found the perfect wedding dress.

What was it that made this particular wedding dress catch your eye and fall in love?

I've always loved wearing colourful clothing but had a hard time accepting the non-traditional nature of a floral gown. However, when I wore my dress, it just felt right. I was told it was one of a kind, and it couldn't have been a more perfect fit. The cut of the top hugged my figure, and the way the lines folded across my chest was really striking. I felt beautiful in it, and the flowers tied perfectly into my personality. Even the butterflies in the pattern were the same colour as my bridesmaids' dresses!

Tell us about your search for the dress and the experience at Astra Bridal.

My search for a dress started with a Sip & See at Astra Bridal North Shore. My sister got her dress from that store, so I knew it was the best place to start. I ended up finding a dress I loved at The Bridal Outlet next door, but I bought it more than a year before my wedding day. Six months later, I tried it on again and realised it didn’t fit and wasn’t what I thought it was. I went to Astra Bridal, and the staff were incredible in helping me despite my shorter timeline. I had looked around, but nothing was calling to me until I tried my dress on. I wasn’t sure at first because it’s not the most traditional, but after taking some time to think about it, I knew I wouldn’t be happy in anything else. Ultimately, I am in love with my dress! I got so many compliments on how the floral elements were a perfect fit for my colourful personality.

Tell us your story, how you both met, and the proposal.

We met shortly after finishing high school, but it wasn’t until a year later that we started spending time together over the summer. We spent our first year together long distance before moving in together at the end of that year. Our relationship has been built on a mutual love for travel and adventure, so five years later, Matt proposed during a month long road trip around the North Island. He booked a night at a gorgeous luxury barn and proposed during sunset after cooking a special meal.

Tell us about your wedding day as a whole.

Our wedding day was wonderful despite the rain. I spent the morning having breakfast and getting ready with my mum and my bridesmaids. The boys eventually arrived at the venue (despite stressing me out with their lateness), and once ready, we took our photos. Matt and I shared our vows privately with one another before the ceremony. There was a 10-minute period where we thought the rings had been lost, but luckily, they were found! Waiting for the ceremony to start was a bit nerve-wracking, but once it began, I was only excited to marry the love of my life. The ceremony went smoothly, and we exited to bubbles in the air and "Walking on Sunshine" playing over the speakers. The reception was full of laughter and fun! We were surprised by the wonderful speeches our families shared and the food served at Bridgewater was divine! We got so many compliments on the food, and everyone loved the polaroid guest book. We danced the night away until I was so tired all I wanted to do was collapse in bed!

Finally, what is your biggest piece of advice for brides to be?

At the end of the day, the only thing that matters is who you are marrying. So long as they are the right person for you, everything else will work out.
