Kirsten and Jordan promised to spend the rest of their lives together against the spectacular backdrop of Muriwai Beach. Photos from the day capture the couple celebrating and basking in their love.
Kirsten wowed in a Danielle by Forget Me Knot, a gorgeous floral lace A-line gown with delicate off the shoulder sleeves. She customised the dress by adding extra petticoat layers underneath, creating a fuller, princess style skirt. She completed her look with our porcelain flower headpiece, a romantic accessory that perfectly complemented the aesthetic of her gown.

What was it that made this particular wedding dress catch your eye and fall in love?
It was just so beautiful. It had delicate lace, which was absolutely beautiful, and a gorgeous train at the back. I wanted a fuller, poofier dress, so they helped experiment with it by adding layers, which made it even more beautiful.
Tell us about your search for the dress and the experience at Astra Bridal.
Astra Bridal was the first place I went to. I’m a very self conscious person, and the people there made me feel comfortable. They were so warm and inviting. I was worried there wouldn’t be many plus sized dresses, but they had such a wide range of them.
Tell us your story, how you both met, and the proposal.
We actually met on Facebook. He was having a bad day, so I told him to message me if he needed someone to talk to — and, obviously, he did. He was living in America at the time and decided to move to New Zealand to be with me. There was no proposal; it was just the two of us deciding we wanted to get married. We got married on the 28th of February, which was the 5th anniversary of him arriving in New Zealand.
What was your favourite part of the day?
The fact that I had all the people I loved and cared about in one place.
Tell us about your wedding day as a whole.
Everything was perfect. It was a beautiful, sunny day. Getting ready was a lot of fun, as Naeema was so lovely and enjoyed having a laugh with us. The ceremony was beautiful. We had it outside, and the venue overlooked the ocean. We had the reception at the same place, and that was beautiful as well. We took some amazing photos at Muriwai Beach with an extremely talented photographer.
Finally, what is your biggest piece of advice for brides to be?
Don’t stress the small stuff. You aren’t going to remember what your decorations on the table looked like. You are going to remember the time you spent marrying your best friend and the time spent with your family.
