Jean and Joel tied the knot surrounded by their loved ones at the beautifully rustic Red Barn. The photos from their big day show the couple soaking in every moment and truly enjoying their celebration.

Jean looked absolutely stunning in Tanner by Sottero & Midgley, a gorgeous crepe fit-and-flare gown with sequined lace details. The highlight of the dress was its breathtaking illusion lace train, making it a real showstopper. She finished her look with a simple, cut-edge veil that matched her gown perfectly.

We hope you love scrolling through their special day and hearing Jean’s thoughts on her experience with us at Astra Bridal and her journey to finding the perfect wedding dress.

What was it that made this particular wedding dress catch your eye and fall in love?

I wanted something simple, elegant, and timeless—something with just a small amount of lace, but nothing too overbearing. The low back of the dress and the way it hugged me, making it look so timeless, was exactly the look I was going for.

Tell us about your search for the dress and the experience at Astra Bridal.

Ilyese was amazing, patient, and so helpful. I told her what I wanted and my vision. After trying on multiple dresses and attending three different appointments, I was starting to think I would have to have a dress made to find what I had envisioned. Then, Tanner by Soretto & Midgley was released, and the moment I saw it, I fell in love. That moment when you put the dress on and just know—it was what I had been missing with all the other dresses. Until I tried on my dress, and that was it. I knew I had found it the moment I stepped into it. Lots of happy tears!

Tell us your story, how you both met, and the proposal.

We had been friends for years, and Joel invited me to watch the Bridge to Bridge speed boats in Hamilton. One thing led to another, and we started dating. He took me away for a long weekend to Paihia, and while we were away, he proposed. Nothing too cheesy—he just surprised me in the spa, and the rest is history.

Tell us about your wedding day as a whole.

We had rain during our ceremony, which everyone has said is good luck. It then cleared up, allowing us to get outside and have photos taken. Getting ready was the most relaxing and stress-free time I've ever experienced, which many brides have said they had the opposite experience with. I had the two best people beside me as my bridesmaids; I couldn't have asked for a better day or experience.
