Mia and Enzo celebrated their love surrounded by friends and family at the enchanting TreeChurch and Gardens. Their wedding day was filled with love, and the photos capture the joy and happiness they shared throughout the day.
Mia captivated in Aspen by Sottero & Midgley, a minimalist Mikado satin A-line dress featuring a beautiful asymmetrical draped bodice and elegant covered buttons cascading down the train. This timeless classic also includes the practical touch of hidden pockets.
We hope you enjoy the photos and the story of their special day as much as we did! Congratulations to Mia and Enzo!
What was it that made this particular wedding dress catch your eye and fall in love?
We had lots of different types of dresses for me to try, which helped me work through a range of looks to see what felt right for me. The first ever dress I had tried was the one I ended up choosing. I never wear strapless clothing, so I was hesitant about that style, but as soon as I tried my wedding dress on, there was nothing else that could compare. It felt the most flattering and comfortable for me, so at the end of it, it was an easy decision.
Tell us about your search for the dress and the experience at Astra Bridal.
I had only one style of dress in mind after lots of research on Pinterest, but it wasn’t until I went to Astra Bridal and tried that style on that I realised it wasn’t for me. Rather than going tunnel vision for my previous inspiration, we selected a variety of styles with different textures and fabrics. This approach made the experience easier through a process of elimination. Throughout my time at Astra Bridal, I felt comfortable trying things on and expressing my opinions. With their help, I was able to find what I needed, down to the details like how the train would work practically and the length of the veil needed to complement my dress.
Tell us your story, how you both met, and the proposal.
Enzo started coming to Activate Church in 2021, and I got connected to him through mutual friends and we all become a close friend circle. We knew early on while ‘pursuing’ each other, that if we were to enter into a relationship, the intention was to marry at the end of it. Pretty soon after we were officially boyfriend and girlfriend. I had started making wedding mood boards and would always send him ring inspirations. We got engaged on March 31st, 2023. He told me it would happen before my birthday (April 6th), and we had already booked our venue in November 2022, so the proposal came as no surprise. However, the way he planned it was what fooled me. My bridesmaids took me to Raglan as a girls trip, and one of my friends said, “There’s no way Enzo would ruin our girls trip by proposing”. So, I figured today would not be the day (though I still had a gut feeling). At the end of the day, we went up on the cliffs that overlooked Raglan Beach, and to my surprise, I saw Enzo standing in the distance. Our whole friend group was there to surprise me, and we ended the night with dinner in Raglan town. It was a pretty good day overall!
What was your favourite part of the day?
I think the day had lots of highlights; it was all a bit of a blur, so I can’t say I had one favourite part. One highlight was during the ceremony when I surprised Enzo and his family by reading my vows in Portuguese. His family speak it at home, so I knew it would be special for them. What I didn’t think about was the reaction from everyone else. I was told many times after the ceremony that my vows had made many people emotional. I think that was really special and memorable to have on our wedding day.
Tell us about your wedding day as a whole.
We had amazing weather, which was lucky because we didn't have a wet weather plan (not the smartest idea). The getting ready part went really smoothly and felt pretty calm until that last hour of getting changed and taking pictures when suddenly time suddenly started moving too quickly. It was a beautiful ceremony; yes, it was nerve-racking, but by focusing only on my husband and the celebrant guiding us through the ceremony, I was able to remain present and try my best to take it all in. We had cake after the ceremony and the best Brazilian BBQ for dinner. It was just a shame I didn’t have the biggest appetite!
Finally, what is your biggest piece of advice for brides to be?
The people around you are so important and can have a huge impact on the planning and outcome of a wedding. Don’t be afraid to ask people for help and use the support available to you, because you cannot plan a whole wedding alone! The day can pass by so quickly, so try your best to be present and take every moment in with your husband by your side. After all, you share this big day together, so it is nice to be able to experience those same memories and feelings as one.
